MENTAL HEALTH
Supporting this event makes a difference!
Depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions can seriously impact an individual’s everyday life and well-being. Mental illness affects families and relationships, overall productivity at home and at work, and impacts our country’s increasing healthcare costs. And, mental illness, most seriously, is a common factor in relation to suicide.

The businesses, donors, and participants who support this event help the Mental Health Association in Delaware in the fight to E-Race the stigma surrounding mental illness and to increase awareness about these important issues. Sponsorship helps MHA put their mission to work to ensure that Delawareans receive the mental health education, care, support and treatment they need.

The Mental Health Association in Delaware is a nonprofit statewide organization whose mission is to promote improved mental well-being for all individuals and families in Delaware through education, support, and advocacy. Funds raised through the 8th Annual E-Racing the Blues© support MHA’s programs and services. - Statewide Support Groups - Information and Referral Services - Education and Prevention Activities for Professionals and the Public - Delaware Suicide Prevention Plan - Child Mental Health Matters in Delaware - Community Events - Advocacy and Awareness Campaigns

EXERCISE AND MENTAL HEALTH

So, what role does exercise, such as walking and running and even programs incorporating other activities such as swimming, weightlifting, and yoga have on mental health?

Each year more scientific studies confirm that regular exercise has a real and significant effect on stress and depression – and may work as well as medication. Reports show that exercise can improve disturbed sleep patterns, can help to control weight, and almost regularly has a positive effect on mood.
